About me
Welcome! Now a little about me. I received my undergraduate degree in psychology at Northwest University in Kirkland and my Masters in Professional Counseling from Liberty University in Virginia. While I have worked extensively with clients from all backgrounds, most of my work surrounds trauma, anxiety, identity issues, and wounded relationships. I am passionate about healing as I have seen lives transformed and hope restored. I love what I do!
Most recently I have had the opportunity to join the team at the Allender Center in Seattle as a Fellow, facilitating groups in certification offerings as well as story workshops. This work in engaging our unique stories is foundational to the work that I do in my practice as well as marriage intensives.
In addition to my clinical training, my husband and I have worked in full time pastoral ministry for 20 years working with individuals, couples, families, and adolescents. This opportunity has brought a richness of experience and compassion to the work that I do in my practice. I profoundly believe that we are all on a journey toward living as we were designed and partnering with you is a sacred calling that I hold with the utmost respect possible.
You will find that my counseling approach is very relaxed and conversational, drawing from a variety of models toward healing. I believe that our early relationships have profoundly impacted all areas of our lives including our significant relationships. Our time together will include an exploration of how your unique story has impacted you today and how we, together, can bring new meaning to your pain.
The struggles you encounter today can have the ability to debilitate you or be the impetus for self- exploration that can lead to the freedom and healing you have been searching for. I firmly believe that your journey is not haphazard, that you were created for a purpose and meant to walk in freedom. It is with this perspective that I believe that in our loneliness, pain, and suffering we can hear the faint whisper of that longing to live whole. The pain in our lives is not the end, but a call that something new is awaiting those who find the courage to take a new journey forward.
“To live by grace means to acknowledge my whole life story, the light side and the dark. In admitting my shadow side I learn who I am and what God’s grace means.” Brennan Manning
